Walking along Arkansas River

Buena Vista

After the quilt show, we walked across the street to the city "Whitewater Park". We found a neat trail that parallels the Arkansas River and walked along it -- we had great views of the river. The first photo shows a raft and a kayak but they are far away and tiny. The second shot shows the raft. I think they were resting up in this fairly quiet section of the river for the next whitewater thrill.
For the most part, the walking trail is high above the river. But every so often we came upon an access where we could go down steps and be very close to the water. The sound of the rushing water is so entrancing. I think we would have seen more rafters if we had gone earlier in the day.
We will definitely go back again and walk this trail. Another fun free thing to do in Buena Vista!
