Old Railroad Tunnels

We took a scenic drive the other day on a county road less than five miles from town, to see the old abandoned Midland Railroad tunnels. There are a series of three tunnels carved out of rock. We saw some amazing huge rock formations. These are frequented by rock climbers.

The railroad runs along side the Akansas River. This past winter had a record snowfall in the mountains, so the river is running high now, as the snow melts. We saw lots of houses built so that the river runs at the edge of their property. I think it would be wonderful to be able to hear that white water sound while sitting on your deck.
