Cold rainy Fremont Nebraska

We got back to Nebraska yesterday late afternoon. We woke up this morning to cold rain and wind. Not much of a welcome, weather wise. It was hard to leave Texas, where the roses were blooming and we were wearing shorts and sandals. At 10:00 this morning the temperature is 38 degrees; it is supposed to turn colder and the rain will probably turn to snow. So why did we choose to come back this early in the year? We have a very important reason -- Doug's mother turns 95 on April 14. She is doing well, living in a great retirement center and is still a sharp woman. Doug's brother will come from Denver to help us celebrate.
We sure didn't come back for the weather! We are camped at Christensen Field in Fremont. It is a city run campground; there is a horse arena and athletic fields. We are the only rig here, and the water is not turned on yet. They won't turn on the water until the nights are consistently above freezing. We were able to find water over by the horse arena, so filled our tank; we can refill by hauling water if necessary. We do have electric power, so we are toasty warm. Most of our windows have condensation so can't see out but there is not much to see right now anyway. The two little dogs are curled up on the sofa - Piper is burrowed under the blanket so you can't see her. We both have water proof rain suits so we are equipped -- we even have a small collapsible snow shovel.
We are looking forward to seeing friends while we are here; we also have medical appointments. We'll stay for Mother's Day, so hopefully will see some good weather also. We have much to be thankful for, including clear weather for the three travel days coming here from Texas.
